Patagonia Quandary Brimmer Hat

The Patagonia Quandary Brimmer Hat is a lightweight, technical hat for hot days out walking, on dusty trails or in the great outdoors. With a wide brim that reduces glare, a quick-drying inner band and a secure fit, it protects you from the sun and heat - ideal for long walks in the sun, quiet days on the beach or stages on the Camino de la Costa. Many wearers emphasise the comfort even when moving intensely and in strong wind.

Description

Whether on exposed ridges, on pilgrimages along the coast or on summer hikes, this hat keeps the sun off your face so you can carry on without distractions. The wide, semi-rigid brim offers generous shade and is buoyant. The dark underside reduces glare and protects your eyes in bright light.

Breathability and comfort

The ventilated cup with mesh inner lining ensures good air circulation and a cool feel, even in high temperatures. The lightweight, discreet sweatband with miDori™ bioSoft technology absorbs moisture quickly, is soft to the touch and helps regulate temperature.

Secure fit with wind

The adjustable strap under the chin keeps the hat in place, even in strong gusts. The toggle adjustment system on the back allows for a precise fit - ideal for more demanding activities or unstable weather conditions.

Sustainable materials and responsible production

The main fabric is composed of 96% NetPlus® post-consumer recycled nylon, sourced from recycled fishing nets, and 4% elastane in a tough weave. The water-repellent DWR finish is free from intentionally added PFAS. The sweatband is made from 100% recycled polyester with miDori™ bioSoft for extra absorbency and softness. The main fabric is bluesign® certified. Produced in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory, guaranteeing an additional premium for the workers involved.

bluesign®

bluesign® is an independent sustainability label that certifies textiles produced in an environmentally friendly and health-safe way. Products with bluesign® certification meet strict requirements throughout the entire production chain - from conserving resources and refraining from using harmful chemicals to fair labour conditions. For outdoor clothing, that means: maximum functionality with minimum environmental impact!
,

B Corporation Certificate

The B Corporation certificate honours companies that not only seek economic profit, but also have a measurable positive impact on the environment and society. Criteria such as sustainability, fair working conditions, transparency and social responsibility are assessed. More and more outdoor brands are obtaining B Corp certification to demonstrate their commitment to people and nature.
,

DWR without PFAS

DWR without PFAS offers a long-lasting, water-repellent finish that keeps fabrics dry while avoiding the use of per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances. These “eternal chemicals” are associated with environmental and health risks, which is why modern alternatives use silicone, paraffin or plant-based technologies. The result is reliable water resistance with less impact on people and nature.
,

Fair Trade Certified™

Fair Trade Certified™ identifies products made under fair and safe working conditions. The label stands for fair wages, social responsibility, sustainable farming methods and the protection of people and the environment throughout the supply chain.
,

miDori™ bioSoft

miDori™ bioSoft is a bio-based textile finish developed by HeiQ, made from vegetable raw materials. It provides an especially soft touch and improves moisture management in technical clothing. The technology is bluesign® certified, contains no harmful substances and contributes to more sustainable textile production.
Material

Elastane

Elastane (also known as Spandex or Lycra®) is a highly elastic synthetic fibre used to give flexibility and freedom of movement to technical fabrics and outdoor clothing. It is often combined with materials such as polyester or cotton in hiking trousers, thermal underwear, technical jerseys and socks. Elastane helps maintain a comfortable fit, prevents deformation and improves performance in physical activities, making it ideal for those who need mobility and long-lasting comfort.
,

Recycled materials

Recycled materials are made from recycled raw materials, such as old PET bottles, fishing nets or textile scraps, and offer an ecological alternative to conventional synthetic fibres. They are lightweight, robust and high-performance, in no way inferior to new materials and, at the same time, help to conserve resources and reduce waste. Ideal for all those who prioritise sustainability and functionality in their outdoor adventures.
,

NetPlus®

NetPlus® is an innovative and sustainable material made entirely from recycled fishing nets. It was developed to reduce plastic waste in the oceans and, at the same time, create high-quality, durable textiles for outdoor clothing. Recycled nylon offers the same robustness and flexibility as conventional nylon, but is significantly more environmentally friendly.
,

Polyester

Polyester is a synthetic fibre characterised by its high resistance, dimensional stability and ease of maintenance. The material absorbs little moisture, dries quickly and is also very durable. Polyester is often used in outdoor and functional clothing as it is lightweight, robust and versatile, and can be used as an outer fabric, lining or in mixed fabrics for greater comfort.
